Ask Yourself Why?
A friend's father used to yell, "Mind your own plate" when she or her brother tattled about what the other had or hadn't eaten. I expanded the idea of "Mind Your Own Plate" to life as a whole.
Do you know why you do the things you do? Why your life is filled with the activities creating each day?
Perhaps you came from a single parent household where you were needed to keep the home running. You cared for siblings as a parent worked.
Maybe you’re an overachiever whose sense of self is tied to your accomplishments.
Gender could also be a consideration. Women are often made caregivers early on, and conditioned to take care of others.
No matter how you’ve gotten here, your plate is full. If you are tired, it is okay to stop and ask yourself, “Why am I doing this?,” then add, “What do I want to do?”
Action: Investigate what responsibilities have you taken on that don't belong to you? Journal about where can you release control to allow yourself the freedom to be, do and have more of what you want?
